Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a first-grade classroom full of different types of learners! My hardworking students come from low-income households and qualify for free lunch. A few of my students have learning disabilities, and half of them are English Language Learners!

Because we are all different, we learn in different ways!

Having such a diverse group of kids makes teaching more challenging and rewarding at the same time. I find myself constantly searching for new fun ways to teach my students and make learning not only fun but engaging.

A classroom with different types of teaching materials would make learning fun and easier for all students in my class and for those learning remotely.

My Project

Having actual books in their hands, will allow the students to enjoy curling up on the couch or their bed to read a book to themselves or with someone else. Remote students are relying on digital books to read. Having an actual book to sit with, hold and share is so much better. With internet service being a bit sketchy, at times my students do not have access to the digital libraries provided and therefore can not practice their reading skills. Many of our lessons to improve thinking require jotting a post it and placing it on a specific page. This is very difficult for my students to do with a digital library!
