My Students

Think back to the books you saw in your classroom library. My guess is that most of these books were fiction. My goal is to have interesting books of all types and levels for my students to read available each day. You can help me do that!

I teach first through third grade students each day.

I teach small reading groups all day at a public school with about 70% of the students receiving free or reduced lunch. My students are eager to learn and work hard. Each day we work on reading skills they struggle with and we set goals. I have found that putting the right book in a child's hand can make a huge difference in their reading success. Once I find an author, topic, or series that fits each child I watch them excel as readers and students.

My Project

My students need a nonfiction leveled library to keep them interested in reading! These books will allow my students to pick books they are interested in reading at each of their individual levels. Instead of struggling through a grade level book in their classroom, they will get to read about topics they interested in books they can successfully read.

By providing books my students are interested in reading you will help them discover the joy of reading. Once a child can read there is no stopping or limiting the success they can have in life. I truly believe teaching children to read is the key to providing children with a successful future.
