This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many of my math students struggle to understand whether or not their solutions make sense for the problems they are working on. What I love about using graphing calculators in the classroom is that it allows students to explore another approach to their solutions. Rather than just relying on the old-fashioned arithmetic or algebraic methods introduced by their textbooks and classroom notes, graphing calculators allow more learning.

A graphing calculator allows my students to verify their solutions in a table and in a graph.

It allows them to reinforce what they have already learned, gain confidence in themselves, since they don't need to depend on someone else to check their work. If used properly, a graphing calculator can be used to verify their work.
