My Students

My students are inspired by materials they find relevant to their personal lives. They light up when presented with contemporary literature or an assignment that allows them to harness technology in a creative manner.

My students crave new novels that allow them to delve into contemporary issues.

My Project

My students are always concerned with how class material applies directly to them. I would love to use the storylines of "Through the Woods," "Hey, Kiddo" and "Grand Theft Horse" to provide books that have real-world connections and themes that support developing research skills.

The format of the graphic novel appeals to this generation of visual learners and provides a gateway to connect the written word with media literacy.

I want to help students sharpen their social skills when it comes to interpreting not only text but facial expressions and images.
