My Project

Graphic novels are great for English language learners and struggling readers. The images and pictures help create context, and the amount of text is not too overwhelming for students. Many of our students face challenges with developing their literacy skills in a new language, and graphic novels provide them with a way to visualize and speak about the story without feeling the pressure of reading and writing.

This diverse set of books will appeal to many of our students and create a connection to culture and real-life experiences.

The graphic novels will provide a way for students to take part in "book club" experiences and discuss story elements.
