Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Do you remember the excitement of that first day of school? The anticipation of seeing your friends and showing off your new outfit and backpack! The curiosity of what your new classroom will look and feel like. My students share that same enthusiasm and optimism for what a new year will bring.

My students are enthusiastic and hands-on learners.

They thrive in an environment where they get to, "Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!"- Ms. Frizzle, The Magic School Bus. I'm an RSP teacher at a primarily free/reduced lunch school. In my request I am asking for an array of materials. The SnapWord sets assist in reinforcing the science of reading structured lessons. The graphic novels I am requesting are for my older students as they are a great way to help struggling readers strengthen vocabulary, build reading confidence and stamina, and develop a deeper appreciation of storytelling. The division & multiplication whiteboards are visual supports to help aide students in setting up their math problems effectively. Timers are great strategies to keep our children on task and minimize distractions. The STEM learning cards help with extended activities to build, create, and craft exciting projects in the classroom and provide engagement. The Sensory Sox and other autism tools help with calming our students when frustrations arise. The erasable pens and highlighters will allow our students to make mistakes when writing and highlighting text without frustration. The mini binder pockets are for the token system where the students earn money to buy the mini erasers and other misc. rewards listed (cupcake boxes are the animal habitats listed). And lastly, I am requesting 2 stamps to use when sending home confidential SpEd paperwork. These students are genuinely excited to be at school in an atmosphere full of opportunity.
