My Students
MES students are curious compassionate citizens of the world, who set big reading goals for themselves! Our students are strong readers and enter the library every day with excited eyes and eager hearts to find the next adventure.
When my students read many of the new titles I have noticed that they learn about themselves and explore different worlds of reality and imagination with greater focus and reading perseverance.
At MES, you can overhear students talking to their peers about what is going on with their favorite characters and series of books to help this process greatly. Thank you for helping us to keep the conversations going and to inspire readers for life!
My Project
In my 28 years as an educator, reading specialist, and instructional coach and librarian, I always had the same mission: to transform students into a reader, helping to develop reading skills, and turning them into lifelong readers.
Like Harry Potter, which I used for years to hooking students into reading and exciting them about books, I am discovering the same magic with graphic novels; these books filled with captions and illustrations excite students, bringing them back for more!
I want to fill MES with the best graphic novels written by the best authors. I dream of reluctant readers racing the library for more!
