My students need graphic novels! They love graphic novels, and keep them checked out. The statistics for my checkouts are 53% graphic novels alone. We are trying our best to grow that section!

While the PCSD is known for it's high test scores, student inclusion awards, and all around commitment to success, it also is recognized as a low-income/high poverty Title I school district. We encourage our students to reach past their goals and achieve more. Throughout the year, we are constantly celebrating student success in not only academics, but behavior, attendance, and positive social interactions. The faculty and staff members of PCSD are committed to forming both successful students and well-rounded citizens.
Our students never cease to amaze us!
We are constantly recognizing individual student achievement as well as chart topping scores on standardized tests. We set challenging goals, and our students surpass even our highest expectations. At PCMS, we know the importance of not just knowing our students can be successful, but making sure that they, too, know their potential!
My Project
Many students come to the library just because the "have" to check out a book for a book report. They say they HATE reading. These same students slowly open up to the idea of reading when they realize that many books are presented in the form of comics! Graphic novels have become a very popular section of the PCMS library. However, the section is rather small compared to the influx in readers. I have students constantly asking me to purchase more graphic novels for the library. While I desperately want to supply these to my new, eager readers, we simply do not have the funds to do so.
