Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
We are a small school in a high poverty neighborhood striving to provide our students with the highest quality education. A large percentage of our students are living in temporary housing and shelters. For many students, our classroom community is their most stable and reliable environment.
My students come to school every day eager to learn and full of curiosity.
They are thirsty for knowledge and are always asking questions. It is my goal to quench that thirst with fun, creative, and enriching learning activities that support their development.
My Project
To kick off the year in reading, students thoughtfully reflected on their reading lives. We explored the books in our classroom library, carefully classified books into interesting categories and noticed that we love graphic novels, but have none!
In our classroom we have a deep love for reading and look forward to getting lost in our books each day.
Having new and interesting titles is imperative to students' success in developing a love for books. Every time I introduce a new book to our classroom library it becomes gold. The first to read it revels in the excitement of reading a crisp, brand new book. It travels from one child to the next until all have read it. The children in my classroom have been begging for graphic novels, so I've done my research and compiled a collection of titles that will excite and motivate them!
