Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students are taking on the challenge of learning from home. They are resilient and optimistic about the future. They have powerful voices and willingly share their opinions and ideas.

Our students are creative, curious, kind, and ambitious.

We believe they deserve a world-class education and access to the very best opportunities. Our journalism club seeks to provide a place for students to learn about current events and process our emotions surrounding them. It gives an outlet for our young leader's voices to join in important conversations. We are committed as ever to our students and their well-being and development. Thank you for joining us in this work.

My Project

Our journalism students are learning about varied ways of sharing information, expressing opinions, and telling stories. Providing them with a high-interest historic graphic novel will give them yet another opportunity to experience how stories can be told.

Most of us can think of a book that revealed to us joy of reading.

We want to put this book in the hands of our students because we know graphic novels often serve that role for emerging readers. It can also open up possibilities for their own writing and creativity. Additionally, this book represents diverse voices and experiences. Our journalists will read the rarely told stories of under-represented heroes, which may inspire them to tell more of these stories, themselves.
