This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When you enter my classroom, you will see students of various backgrounds, economic statuses, and learning needs. But more importantly, you will see students that are kind, thoughtful, encouraging, and who love learning. My students may speak 27 different languages and have had different struggles in their lives, but they never give up.

We believe in having a growth mindset!

My students amaze me every day at their ability to persevere and understand that it is okay to fail, as long as you get back up.

My Project

Graphic Novels are the first thing my students look for when they are looking for an exciting and engaging book. I had students who never read for fun, but when I introduced them to a couple of the graphic novels I have, they fell in love. They hadn't realized how many different types of books they could read, so they were excited that this could be an option.

Graphic Novels help build lifelong readers and learners.

These books would not only encourage students to read, but will also provide rich, high quality reading materials. These books have lessons about growing up and friendship. They have strong characters and conflicts. These books are just what the students need to grow and improve in their reading.
