My Project
Every day, my students dedicate 20 minutes to independent reading, which has become an essential part of our routine that helps them build reading stamina and develop a lifelong love for books. While many really love this time, others struggle to find stories that truly engage them.
For my more reluctant readers, graphic novels have been a game changer!
The visuals help them stay engaged, comprehend the novel, and feel successful as readers. These books help bridge a gap for my struggling readers, making independent reading time a moment of joy rather than frustration.
Each semester, my English 2 students complete an independent book project, where they read a book of their choice and complete activities about their book to demonstrate their knowledge of our course standards. This includes a visual arts element, where students will complete a final project about their book. These graphic novels will help my students who are still struggling to find books that interest them!
To support all my students in their reading journeys, we need a diverse collection of graphic novels. With your support, I can ensure every student finds a book that excites them, helping them grow into confident, lifelong readers.
