My Students

I teach an amazing group of students in the promise zone of the West Philadelphia area. I'm so privileged to teach a mixture of students. I teach students who have learning disabilities as well as gifted students who all love to read. They are a very talented bunch and are rising to the academic challenges that I place before them every day, as well as demonstrating their talents in other extracurricular activities such as art, music, and dance. They are my most astonishing group thus far.

My Project

Getting new books is like a gift that they receive everyday. Watching my students get excited about reading and enjoying what they are reading is amazing. Graphic novels have really brought joy to my students. These are the first things that fly off out of my library. With me having so many different level readers in my class and even students with special needs everyone feels safe reading these novels because they can all read them without any real assistance from me. These graphic novels have really brought a since of confidence even with my students who struggle to read. Giving my students more variety of graphic novels in my classroom will ensure that all my students are reading a book that they love and enjoy.
