This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Building a library collection on a shoestring budget is careful balancing act! Balancing a mix of novels, hot non-fiction, and shiny award-winners makes it tough to stick to just one genre. My graphic novel shelf is practically waving its arms, begging for more! I’m racing against the clock to keep up with the insatiable appetite for the latest and greatest graphic novels and manga while trying to keep the whole collection afloat.

Graphic novels appeal to many students without the stigma of choosing an easy to read book.

Studies show they work wonders for budding and hesitant readers. With our thriving community of English language learners, these colorful pages are like magic portals for boosting comprehension skills!

Our students literally cheer with excitement when they spot shiny new books in the library! This builds a buzz amongst readers, empowering students to enjoy reading. Sure, we’ve teamed up with the local library, but let’s face it, most of the goodies are online or just out of reach for our bookworms. Our school is their wonderland, where the magic of the library comes alive!
