My Students

I am the librarian at an urban school in Brooklyn that serves an incredibly diverse group of students.

The school I teach at is located in a multi-cultural community, where the highest percentage of its residents struggle to support their children academic needs.

Most importantly, my students love to read! For many of them, the school library is the only place they have access to a large selection of books. It is important to me to foster this love of reading by giving them access to the newest, best, and most diverse titles.

My Project

Graphic novels are by far the most popular genre in the library. I literally cannot keep them on the shelves! Currently our graphic novel section is very empty and I am excited for it to be filled with enticing choices. I would love to build the collection with some titles that are popular such as the Dogman series and Garfield, as well as new and diverse additions that I think my students will enjoy.

The excitement I see on their faces when they find a great book is priceless and I want to be able to provide that joy every time a student visits the library.
