Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing fourth and fifth graders, who deserve the very best! They are fun, energetic and creative, and I love to showcase their spectacular talents. The school where I teach is considered "high poverty," so some students do not have the same opportunities as others. Everyone qualifies for free lunch in the Title I program.

Despite our economic and learning challenges for my special population kids, our community is very supportive and makes our little school a great place to learn!

Although my students are not diverse in race and background, they are all creative by nature and very different in the way they think and learn. Our urban school is located in a community that supports the arts, STEAM, extracurricular activities, and provides support for our ADHD and Autistic population. Many students come into school looking forward to simple things like taking a photo, singing a song, or getting a hello from a friend. For some of them, this interaction is the only positive part of their day.

My Project

My special population students sometimes need extra motivation to work at their highest potential. ADHD and Autism can hinder their ability to understand and complete average assignments so there is a need for special projects and motivational tools to raise their success.

Having students use transfer vinyl and Cricut tools to personalize shirts and other materials as incentives will boost participation and raise self-esteem amongst my special learners.

The Cricut in our classroom is easy to use. We simply need to restock our supplies with mats, transfer vinyl, and tools so each student can have a chance to show their creativity and wear their imaginative designs. Thinking differently doesn't have to block learning. In fact, I tell my students that their uniqueness is their greatest gift. Please help my classroom students become Cricut masters. Any and all help is appreciated.
