Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard-working students. They persevere despite the community they live in and the problems they encounter every day. My school is located in a low-income area with some gang problems. Many students have other responsibilities that don't always allow them to buy the resources they need.

These students are eager to learn but do not always have the resources as other students.

They are trying to better themselves every day. Most are on the free lunch program. My school is fourteen years old and has amazing teachers dedicated to all the students. My school has a high poverty level.

My Project

I want to encourage kids to think more. I want my students to be able to think mathematically and logically by the end of the year. Materials are the biggest challenge. "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all" Aristotle. They need to graph different types of functions (linear, quadratic), solve systems of equations, data analysis, and many more math concepts. They will also use the notebooks for their homework. Many don't have the resources to get it. This will excite them about graphing and learning higher math concepts. I am trying to create future engineers in a low-income area. They will believe they can if they are given the resources to do it.
