My Project

I won't lie: plainly and simply, I just need graduation gifts (the cost for which I am unable to afford myself) for my seniors!

My seniors graduating this year have enriched my life so much and reminded me, daily, why I started teaching, and I just want to celebrate and reward them for all their hard work!

I've tailored each gift specifically to the student and have picked out things I think they will love and cherish well into adulthood.

Each item provides a direct student benefit: the protein bars provide a nutritional benefit to one of my athletically inclined students. The Bluetooth keyboard will provide an academic benefit, by giving a student in need a vital piece of technology (that is also aesthetically pleasing) for them to use on writing projects in college.

And while not all of these gifts fall directly into my subject area (English), each gift helps the students achieve a specific learning outcome. The protein bars help that particular student become more informed and knowledgeable of what they are putting in their body (right now they are eating the equivalent of a candy bar... I want to teach them to do their research and be more discerning and READ nutrition labels before putting their faith into certain "health products"). The keyboard is to help teach this particular student how to write in the traditional, academic fashion. Many of my students can only write effectively with their thumbs, on their phones. I want to send my students to college knowledgeable and skilled in traditional academic methods of composition and paper writing.

And the stuffed bears, well, they are just for me to put into gift bags for my seniors, as some of them have expressed a want for a traditional keepsake of our time spent together.
