My Students

The most important fundamental sound to a band is the bass drum. While the bass drum plays a very important role, it is often one of the least respected and most ignored instruments in the percussion section. We'd like to enhance the sound quality of our ensemble with a concert bass drum.

The band program serves 120 students in grades 5-12.

These students range in a variety of ethnicity's and backgrounds. Many of these students come to school just for band. Band is a place where they feel safe, make friends, and create music together. While many of our band students are involved in athletics, there are just as many who are involved only in this activity.

My Project

The core ensemble of our band program is the concert band. Without concert band we would not have marching band, jazz band, pep band, and solo/ensemble. Concert band is the fundamental ensemble of our instrumental music program and it feels right that we ask for a fundamental instrument for this ensemble, a bass drum. The concert bass drum we are asking funding for meets the need for a great sounding, well constructed concert bass drum. No matter the choice of style of music we perform, the bass drum will enhance our sound quality at future performances.
