Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach Middle School music in a high-need, low income suburb of Chicago. Our students have many needs. About 80% of our students receive free or reduced lunch.

We have had a growing interest in choir and show choir the past few years. The excitement and dedication to the group has been great. Show Choir is a great way to get students involved and teach valuable life lessons.

This is the second year that our show choir has been performing. Previously, students have worn the standard black pants, white top, or khaki and white. The girls have been enthusiastically researching other show choirs and have seen the great costumes that some of them have. If we can get this fabric, there are many community members and teachers who have sewing abilities that could make our dresses for us.

Your donation will make it possible for our Show Choir to have costumes. These girls see the disparities between the resources available to our group and other groups from nearby suburbs. These costumes would make all the difference in the world.
