Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember wanting to sit some place else during class time? You wanted to lean back, slouch down, roll over onto your stomach, sit by a "buddy" and do work on the floor RATHER that be in that "crummy" desk and chair to do your math and reading!

My fourth and fifth graders live in an urban environment.

Their homes were built in the early 50s and often are less than 900 square feet of space. Thus, they learn to find their own little "nook and cranny" in order to read, do lessons and just have some alone time. But, they adapt! Many of them have special needs such as learning differences and/or are new English learners. They struggle to function on a daily basis.

My Project

I wish to acquire clipboards so that my students can move to another "spot" in the room, lean up against bookshelves, lay on a mat or stand at a counter to complete lessons. It would help to vary the day as well as help get some wiggles out, for sure. Can't you just see them now, INTENT on getting a job done? Teacher designated clipboards would be for administration purposes such as marking daily scores and writing anecdotes about students. I would easily be able to LOCATE the clipboards in class (even if it is that SAFE place) as well!

By supporting this proposal, you will be helping to encourage students to keep pushing forward in their academic pursuits!
