My Students

My school is a consolidated school district that covers small, rural communities, and quiet farms. Some of my students travel long distances to school; others live right down the street.

My students are athletes and scholars, farmers, and writers.

In a small school, students have opportunity to try new skills without tremendous pressure. They multitask. They have big hearts and want to help others. They like to try new things.

My students are quixotic. They want to understand and influence the world around them, while at the same time staying close to home and the surroundings that make sense to them.

My Project

It sounds crazy, I know, but I "loan out" more pencils, pens, and colored pencils than anything else. How can anyone take notes, do class assignments and stay on top of the learning process without basic supplies. Additionally, I send more students to the office to sharpen pencils than for anything else!

With pencils, erasers, a sharpener, pens, and lead, my students will be ready to focus on math and learn.

Because I won't have to send them outside the class to sharpen pencils or hunt down more lead, they will be able to work hard, collaborate with each other on various projects, and achieve great things!
