My Students

My sweet students come from diverse backgrounds and bring a large array of experiences to our room. One thing they all have in common is using their imaginations and creating a happy world within our walls.

Daily, my students overcome a variety of basic challenges - getting breakfast, making it to school, and having homework completed.

Our school is a Title I urban school with the most diverse population in our district, serving free or reduced-price lunch to over 80% of our students. School becomes a safe haven for these scholars where expectations are the same every day, and their basic needs are met. While they come to school to learn, they thrive when they are given the opportunity to utilize a variety of resources to make learning real and fun. This is what keeps them coming back and keeps them hooked into learning the rigorous academic standards.

My Project

My kindergarten students will be highly engaged each morning with these interactive tubs. The materials such as pony beads, playdoh designer kit, dot-art painters, trace and draw projector, skip together snowflakes, and the magnetic maze will help strengthen my students fine motor skills, which is the foundation for handwriting!

These morning tubs will also enhance the ELA curriculum and will offer differentiation by language skills.

The story sequencing cards, vowel sounds learning locks, the touch and read phonics and word set, fishing for sight words, simple words locks, alphabet locks, the magnetic alphabet maze, storytelling kits, alphabet sounds teaching tubs and the printing letters practice books will span along the school year giving students many learning opportunities.

Along with ELA enhancement, the morning tubs will also include math curriculum enhancements. The addition match-ups, addition learning locks, the magnetic counting maze, pattern blocks, pattern blocks design cards and unlock it number match activities will strengthen many students number sense, geometric thinking, and understanding of addition.

Lastly, the pretend to play mailbox, baby doll clothes, doctors office play tools, costume set, kid-safe appliances, and the cash register will allow students to use their imagination to strengthen their socio-emotional skills. The storage bin and the rolling storage cart will be used to appropriately place these morning tubs so the students have easy access!
