Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember watching the World Cup and the vuvuzelas? Soccer has really caught on and what better way to get some exercise!

Our school is a Math, Science, and Technology Magnet.

Since we have no defining boundaries, we bus in many students from impoverished areas. Many student's families cannot always afford to pay for extra curricular activities. That's when school becomes essential to play team sports.

My Project

Some students have never learned to play soccer and have missed out on how fun it can be. The goals, balls and vests will allow me to teach them how to play soccer. We have a large grass area in which students can learn to play soccer in a safe noncompetitive environment. This will allow all students to play at their own personal best. Since our school is a Math, Science, and Technology school, many of the students have never played soccer. I encourage students to step out of their comfort zone and try different sports, soccer being one of them.

This project allows my students to not only play soccer, but it allows them to play a variety of other games and drills.

Those students that excel in sports can help others become more comfortable in sports. So let the games begin and get some exercise too.
