Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My school is a magnet for Dallas Independent School District and our students must fill out an application, meet certain academic standards and be bussed from what ever part of the city they come from, they are so happy to be in this school everyday. Although most of my students deal with unfortunate financial situations, they sure do work hard because they know they are given a great opportunity to discover the new careers for the 21st Century. I would love for their classroom to be a place where they can do the discovery. A place where they can be anything and do anything! By integrating more technology into our classroom, my students will be exposed to many possibilities that they may not come in contact with otherwise. They always look forward to coming to class to see what new thing they are going to learn about.
My Project
All of my students are currently taking Startup Tech. It is a blended learning tech-entrepreneurship course that asks students to identify ways to improve their world and to build marketable digital solutions using MIT App Inventor to write the code necessary to make the App functional.
Students teams present their functional, original, mobile app that addresses a community need, develop a corresponding original abbreviated business plan and marketing materials in a trade show-style setting, with opportunities to network with and demo to professionals from the local business community in Startup Showcase expo for the chance to win funding and publicity.
More than half of students from low‑income households
