Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am the Advanced Academics Coordinator at MMSSHS, a large urban, Title I high school in Miami Florida. This year we are committed to supporting the mental health and overall well-being of the scholars in our program. As we continue our mission to foster a supportive environment for young individuals, we are initiating a new project aimed at enhancing their self-care routines and mental wellness.

Teenagers today face an array of challenges, from academic pressures to social dynamics, which can significantly impact their mental health.

We believe that fostering an environment where they feel cared for and valued is crucial in supporting their well-being. To this end, we are organizing a special initiative to set up personal care stations and snack stations designed specifically for teens.

Our Goals:

1. Personal Care Items: We aim to provide a range of personal care items to help teenagers maintain their hygiene and feel good about themselves. Items such as deodorants, facial cleansers, hairbrushes, hand lotions, and feminine hygiene products will be included. These products are essential for promoting self-care and can have a positive impact on their self-esteem.

2. Snack Station: We also plan to set up a snack station stocked with healthy, nutritious snacks. Regular access to wholesome snacks can contribute to better mood and energy levels, helping teens stay focused and feel more positive throughout their day.
