Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I love second grade. I love seeing my students' bright and happy faces in the morning as we do our morning greeting. I love seeing them greet each other and ask about each others' weekends. I look forward to seeing them demonstrate character, problem solving, and determination every single day. I am constantly impressed by their growth emotionally and academically.

Every day I tell my students to be a better person than they were the day before.

Every day we strive to be kind individuals who believe in ourselves and others. Second grade is a critical time of learning and growing. I have some students who are reading to learn. I have some who are learning to read. I have students who can do multiplication. I have students who can add one digit by one digit numbers. We strive to be the best version of ourselves not better then any single person. Our classroom is a family that cares about one another. I want my students to have access to everything that will make them successful.

My Project

At our school no two rooms are alike. Teachers have the freedom to create their own learning environment. In my classroom we try to use technology as a learning tool. However, in second grade, three classrooms share one Chromebook cart with 30 computers. We are grateful for what we have, but the inconsistency makes lesson planning difficult. If each student in my class could have their own Chromebook, we could start to bridge the technology gap. With a multitude of learners in my classroom, I need more tools to be able to reach them all. The use of technology is one way to do so.

I would be able to provide a variety of resources to my students so their learning is individualized for them.

Unfortunately, not every student is working on grade level material. With the use of Chromebooks, I would be able to assign work students can complete independently. Students would be able to read texts at their reading level. They would be able to listen to stories and have questions read to them. Students would be able to work at their own pace and finish assignments without the pressure of seeing other peoples turn work in. Not to mention the amount of paper we can save by having assignments and assessments online. I want to be able to provide the best resources possible for my classroom. Your donation will move my classroom closer to academic success!
