My Students

We want to be 21st Century learners! Help bring technology to our fingertips.

My students are inspiring artists ranging from grades K-5 in an urban Iowa school district.

Students come from diverse backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, and socio-economic status. They hunger for the opportunity to use their minds and hands to create art they can call their own and explore the beauty life has to offer. My 600 students are a product of their modern environment and using technology is a part of their everyday lives. Currently, we are using a limited number of art reproductions to view works of art. A LCD projector would change the way my students view and create art.

My Project

LCD projector technology will enable me to present multimedia content to students with different learning styles. Students with auditory, visual or kinesthetic learning styles will benefit from engaging lessons that connect to their strengths. Using nonverbal cues and pictures supports learning, especially for those who are English as a second language (ESL) or learning-disabled students. Art work, Internet sites, Power Point projects, student work, tutorials, and art DVDs come to life at the press of a button. This is just a small fraction of how students can use and benefit from this technology. Students will have the advantage of being able to view two and three-dimensional artworks on a larger scale. In conjunction with a document camera, teacher demonstrations of processes, techniques and procedures can be projected allowing all students to see, as well as providing the opportunity for students themselves to apply and demonstrate the target skill for the class.
