Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my class come from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses. Our special education preschool class has specialized instruction for students with Autism, behavioral needs, sensory needs, and emerging language. I provide a structured, yet engaging environment where all my students can be successful. In order for my students to access their curriculum, I need to supplement many of my activities with modified materials. Thanks to generous donors who support my projects, this is made possible and we are so grateful.

My students love stories!

What better way to incorporate important social and behavioral skills than through engaging stories my students can relate to?

I Wish You More (Encouragement Gifts for Kids, Uplifting Books for Graduation)- This request would provide me with a class set of books I can give to my pre-k students when they graduate to kindergarten. This is such an important milestone in their lives and I want this book to encourage them and be a tangible reminder that they are successful as they continue their education.

Dragons Love Tacos- My students will love this fun story about dragons and why they don't like spicy foods.

Seeds and Trees: A children’s book about the power of words, Sesame Street Elmo Manners Books for Kids Toddlers -- Set of 8 Manners Books , A Little SPOT of Anger: A Story About Managing BIG Emotions, A Little SPOT of Kindness!, Kindness Snippet Jar, Feet Are Not for Kicking (Board Book) (Best Behavior Series), Hands Are Not for Hitting (Board Book) (Best Behavior Series), Voices Are Not for Yelling (Best Behavior), and The Color Monster: A Story About Emotions- These stories will be enjoyed by all my students, but the lessons they will learn are key. Having stories that target appropriate behavior will act as social stories that are meaningful to all my students. Having appropriate behaviors modeled through stories helps my students make a deeper connection with classroom and community expectations.

The lessons my students learn from these stories will help them as the transition into kindergarten and for years to come!
