Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students represent a very diversified school. We have students from Israel, ex-Soviet Union countries many of us never heard about, such as Georgia, Uzbekistan, Belorussia, in addition to the students from all over Asia, Africa, Central, and South America. Our students come from low-income families. Many of them live in the shelter far away from the school and take a long journey to come to school. Many of them are from single-parent families or live with foster families. Some students have moderate to severe disabilities.

Despite the conditions our students live in, they show great attendance and are eager to learn.

Besides, the parents are very supportive of our school's unique programs we offer to their children.

My Project

Students will learn the difference between good and bad snacking. They will learn how to make better nutritional decisions when making selections for on the go snacks. These snacks will not include any artificial colors and flavors. They will learn how to read food labels. Being able to eat something nutritious will enable students to learn and think better. Many of my Newcomer students come to school without having breakfast and don't have the energy they need to learn in school. Please help me provide some snacks so they can enjoy through out their day at school.
