This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are very creative. They love to use their imaginations and create characters that take them to faraway places. For some of them, their imagination is the only place that they go that offers them a break from a life of challenges.

They love to hear the stories that we read to them each day, but they get much more out of reading and listening at the same time!

We need headphones for each child to be able to listen to our book programs on a computer or a CD player. That way they can listen while they read the book. With headphones, my struggling readers will have the opportunity to SEE and HEAR the words at the same time. Having access to headphones will give them the chance to listen to their favorite stories over and over again. Repeated exposure to the same reading content gives a child a sense of familiarity with the story and great confidence as they find the words easier to read each time.
