Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are learning disabled. Their disabilities or learning needs are mixed. They are a unique group to me. We are a six and seventh grade, self-contained class and because I only have fifteen students, I can work with them one on one. We have a close-knit environment, and all of my students are eager to learn.

Our school is located in a low, socio-economic area.

Most of my students lack basic hygiene essentials. The students need toothpaste, dental floss and deodorant. They are aware of the importance of good hygiene habits to help them prevent other illnesses, as this topic was a lesson in the science class.

Even though hygiene products are essential, most of my students can not afford to buy them. These students do their best every day in class and I encourage them to learn as much as they can and never give up on their education.

My Project

Through this project, my students will have enough hygiene products until the end of the school year. My students need tooth brush and tooth paste to make sure their teeth are clean everyday for school. Many of my students asked me, if I can buy them tooth paste, tooth brush and deodorant, I was able to buy hygiene products for some of them but I can not buy for all of them. These essential hygiene products would bring smiles and comfort to my students, also hygiene products would reinforce good hygiene habits. Feeling clean, helps them feel confident in school and around other students. I want my students to just concentrate in what is important and that is learning as much as they can to get ready for the future.
