My Students

My students are diverse. They come from many different backgrounds. This neighborhood has many new immigrants. Our students vary from regular education kids to mainstream kids as well as 12:1 kids.

Our schools motto is "Committed to Excellence." We strive to give our students the best resources we can.

Many of them need hands-on materials and manipulatives so that they can "see" what is happening. Most days we break up into small groups to do mini lessons to review or strengthen concepts.

Our goal is to try our best to help the kids meet their goals!

My Project

The fifth grade science curriculum addresses good hygiene and healthy habits! It would be great to give the students the materials to start practicing good hygiene by providing them with what they need. Many students might not have the materials, like floss or deodorant at home, so they don't use it. It sends such a stronger message about how important it is to take care of themselves. Even though good hygiene is part of the 5th grade curriculum, I would love to start hygiene lessons in the 3rd and 4th grade too. This is the time when they start paying attention to the changes in their body. Hopefully, this project can really help the students who need the materials to start practicing good hygiene and healthy habits!
