This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hi Everybody! I just wanted to let you know a little bit about myself and my students! I work as a 4th-grade teacher in a New York City public school teaching ELA to a combination of students including English Language Learners. The students come from all walks of life with a range of different strengths and needs and I am always trying to think of new and creative ways for my students to access their full potential both in and out of the classroom! Our school is a Title I school where all of the students belong to the free and reduced-price lunch program as we are in a primarily low-income neighborhood.

My students are not only hard-working but, they are also always excited to learn new things!

Unfortunately, many of them do not come to school with the supplies they need every day and/or with their basic needs met for reasons they have no control over; so it is usually up to myself and my fellow teachers to help them be successful in any way that we can! Even though this school year may look a little different, I still want to provide them with all they might need!

My Project

We are living in some very unusual and unprecedented times! It goes without saying that this year has brought about a lot of scary changes in our lives, and especially in our educational system. Therefore, there are some things that I want to get for my classroom to make it a safe and healthy environment for everyone there!

I want to make sure that I can provide a clean, safe, and healthy learning environment for all of my students!

Although right now we may not know exactly what the new school year is going to look like, I want to be prepared for whatever may come. So, I am asking for some help to get a medical grade HEPA filter. This will help to circulate the air in my classroom and keep it clean for everyone to breathe! In addition, I also wanted to get a touch-less hand sanitizer dispenser with some additional hand sanitizer jugs. This will ensure everyone keeps their hands clean throughout the day, especially when soap and water are not available! I want to try and make my classroom safe and healthy for all who enter!
