Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Can you take my order please? I am a Kindergarten teacher working in New York. The school consists of many low-income families, ELL students and students with special needs.

My students wanted to turn the dramatic play area into a place to go to eat. They voted on a diner, McDonald's or a pizzeria. The pizzeria won, so we started transforming our dramatic play area into a pizzeria. We are hoping with your help to open up a diner and McDonald's in the spring. Our problem is that there are very few hands-on materials in our dramatic play area, making it difficult to create the real life environment wanted. It is imperative to provide these real life experiences, so our future generation will be successful individuals.

My class is in need of play food, dishes, pots, pans, a cash register and a phone. These hands-on materials will help create an environment where real life learning takes place. In this environment the students will learn social skills and a respect for each other. They will learn manners and how to be independent and productive individuals. Your help will make it possible for my students to enjoy learning as they play, using the hands-on materials you so generously donate.

Your help will give my students the real life, hands-on experiences needed to become productive and successful life long learners.
