My Students

My students love immersing themselves in California history.

I have 28 inquisitive 4th grade students who come from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

Some of these students are English Language Learners. Students in this class also range in academic ability from gifted students to students on individualized education programs.

My Project

We will soon begin studying the California Gold Rush. This story is about a boy who is close in age to my students. He travels to California during the Gold Rush. We will follow his journey through this novel. What a wonderful opportunity for my students to immerse themselves into that time period through the main character.

This book will give my students a better understanding of life on the journey to California.

It will also give them a glimpse at life in California during the time of the Gold Rush.
