My new 2017-2018 class is full of intelligent, happy, creative, and busy 3rd grader. We are a Title 1 elementary school. Most students only have access to technology when they walk through our door. We guide all of our instruction through technology. WE are twenty-first century learners. This only supports the need to keep up with the newest technology and software available.
My students ache to explore and have new technology at his or her fingertips.
In saying that, it is imperative that my room have updated and offer varied software. My students will do almost anything for the opportunity to LEARN by creating, building, and exploring through technology!
My Project
Putting a MacBook Pro in my classroom would open some new technological doors for my students. Most of my class, including myself, are only familiar with an iPhone. I believe this would be an exceptional opportunity for us to explore our creativeness using a completely different software program.
I can not think of a better way to build excitement in knowledge then to introduce a new way for my students to explore their world than with an iMac!
For example, I want my students to create iMovies and iCommercials documenting projects, different strategies for learning, exploring our world, and just having fun. Furthermore, they can present unique creations to other grade levels and teach how to navigate Mac software. I believe this sharing and peer to peer teaching will ignite a hunger for knowledge of unfamiliar technology.
