Help me give my students the opportunity to critically examine how and why Olympians (especially Black Americans) were challenged with social injustice.
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Bartle's classroom raised $324
This project is fully funded
My Students
I love helping to raise our future to think creatively, critically, analytically, convergently, and divergently in order to become the world's next generation of doctors, lawyers, politicians, professors, translation specialists, software developers, engineers, etc. These kinder through fifth-grade students already show talents in art and design, technology, and mathematics/science/reading. By connecting new thinking skill sets to their own natural talents, these young children will be able to enhance our world's tolerance of various cultures, beliefs, and differences that we face in our daily lives.
My Project
Students will begin this unit by gaining knowledge about the Olympics: the origin, fun facts, athlete participation, athletic events, etc. Students will investigate and formulate ideas to why social injustice occurred during the Olympics. Students will justify and defend their thoughts about social injustice: How would you have handled the situation? What changes would you have made?
How did Jesse Owens change the world?
Jesse Owen's- a son, a brother, a husband, a father, an athlete. Students will learn about this man's life as well as how he overcame social injustice during the 1936 Olympics.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
