This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are located in the west side of Chula Vista in one of the more challenging parts of the city. My students have had inconsistent access to mobile devices, being that we share much of the computer carts on campus. This project could potentially bring an opportunity to introduce having complete access to a computer without having to worry about many different software updates that Apple and Microsoft products require. They are the type of kids who have parents working long hours just to make ends meet. My school is considered a Title I school with support beyond just education. Our campus has psychological services for students and parents, nutritional support, and medical services all located on our campus. My school serves as a central hub for our respected zip code in bringing the holistic well-being to all families.

My Project

Giving my students an opportunity to practice their writing, math skills, and an authentic audience to share their ideas will definitely be an opportunity to show them how to be the type of citizens we need for the 21st century. The resource I am requesting is simple...mobile laptops that allow students to be focused, engaged, and productive in all that they're doing. I am placing a big emphasis on collaborating and blogging. I want to show my students that they can have a voice that the world wants to hear and challenge them at the same time. These laptops are easy to keep updated, work well with Microsoft and Google Apps for Education products. Knowing that these devices will continue to work for a long period of time is the reason and rationale of choosing Chromebooks above all other devices.
