This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an all girls' class, which allows me to have deep meaningful conversations about challenges that are unique to them. Among their challenges, attendance is an issue they struggle with. I would hate for their menstrual cycle, or the lack of access to hygiene products, to be another reason that contributes to them missing school.

My girls face so many challenges that I try to help them navigate; providing them with necessary basic feminine care products and spare clothing in case of "accidents" is something simple I can do to make their lives easier.

Sometimes girls ask to go to the nurse or go home due to stains on their clothes or they don’t have pads. Many of my girls also play sports. I already have some spare underwear available but I'd like to have extra clothing for them in case of “accidents.” There have been many cases in which girls have come to me with stains, and they have no one to pick them up from school or take them a clean change of clothes. Having these items will help prevent some embarrassing situations. The snacks are to provide relief and comfort from symptoms during these times.

Please help me provide the basic feminine care for students in need. Having access to these products will have a positive impact on their attendance and confidence.
