My Students

The students in my class are young and inquisitive. They are culturally diverse and come from different economical backgrounds. My students live in a low socioeconomic area and attend a Title I school, at which over half of the students receive free or reduced priced breakfast and lunch. In my Math 180 class, many of them are identified as struggling learners in mathematics. Despite their struggles, they are always ready to take on new challenges. Every one of my students has the potential to unlock the mathematician in themselves. My middle schoolers enjoy being creative by expressing themselves through hands-on activities and through visual arts. I am impressed with their ability to tackle real life mathematical problems using different types of strategies learned in class.

My Project

Technology is a key factor in instruction. During my remediation math class, my students will use the Microsoft Surface Go for math stations and other various assignments. Using the Surface Go, for review purposes, will help my students understand the standards and new concepts of the math being taught. Also, my students can have a better hands-on based learning experience.

The Microsoft Surface Go would allow students to use a variety of online learning.

Educational programs such as Khan Academy, I-Ready, and Google Classroom give student an opportunity to access learning at his or her own pace. Overall, the Surface Go would be a helpful resource needed in the classroom. Making it so that the students can succeed with their education.
