My Students

My students are an enthusiastic third grade group, excited to learn about the world outside our classroom walls.

Our school is a wonderful place to learn and grow. We have hard working students and a supportive staff and administration. One thing our school lacks is diversity. Eager to know more about the world outside our town, students in my room are always thrilled to learn about new places and people. To prepare my students for a multicultural world, I try to bring other cultures, traditions and countries to them. Each year my students are like sponges, taking in as much information about a different culture as they can. In turn this makes them not only more tolerant of others but begins to develop them into global citizens.

My Project

Adding 4 iPad minis to my classroom will create a window to new cultures for my students. These will be an invaluable resource to my students as they use them in a variety of ways. Students will have the opportunity to work collaboratively on research of other cultures while utilizing 21st century technology skills. It will allow me to merge technology, Common Core standards and global learning into student based learning. iPad minis would put power at the fingertips of my students. Students would be motivated to learn using technology. Podcasts, educational videos, web based research, Skyping with classrooms around the world, and reading and responding to blog posts, would all be at the palm of their hands. In turn students will be able to take the information they learn and generate creative projects to share with other students and faculty in our school, impacting more than just the students in my classroom.

It will leave a lasting impact that will mold them into more tolerant, global thinking, individuals.
