My Students

We always put historical knowledge to use by creating projects which demonstrate content information. Projects that we have already created include an artifact timeline, a ziggurat pop-up books, an Egypt map with visual add-on's, and an Egyptian calendar wheel.

I teach five classes of seventh grade Ancient History.

All seventh graders are homogeneously grouped in seventh grade, so my classes include students of various ability levels grouped and backgrounds. All seventh grade special education students are also mainstreamed into my classes.

My Project

Students will use the glue sticks to complete various hands-on projects and activities this year. These projects will include an Egyptian tomb diorama, a Jewish synagogue foldable, a Hindu social castes loop book, a travel brochure for ancient Athens or Sparta, a U.S. government organizer, and many other projects.

Research shows that students learn better and retain information longer when they put information to use and they see and engage with the content in multiple forms.

Reading and hearing about historical content doesn't promote understanding. By completing projects, students can demonstrate their understanding in a non-traditional way, put their creativity to use, and make learning fun.
