My Students

Who says that art and science can't come together? I always like to combine science and art so my students can use art to express what they have learned, but I need to have the right materials to do it.

I teach science in a school in Brooklyn with a 57% poverty rate.

I work with 250 third grade to fifth grade students. My students are always full of questions. They enjoy doing experiments in class, observing, manipulating materials, measuring, and making predictions. They love to learn how scientists gather and share information.

My Project

Because I work with several classes of students, I need large quantities of construction paper, glue sticks, and scissors in order for everyone to get a chance to work on a project. My students are amazing scientists. They are ready to share what they learn with parents, teachers, and other students in the school, but they need the right materials.

I want to encourage my students to be independent scientists who ask questions, make observations, and draw conclusions.

I also want them to use their artistic abilities to share what they have learned with the wider community. By donating these materials to my classroom, you are helping me to foster my students' love for inquiry, science, and art.
