Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing! They receive Math instruction in a second language. Some of my students are dominant in two languages(Spanish and English), others are learning only Spanish as a second language. My students love to learn by just having collaborative group conversations. They love socratic seminars!! They challenge each other by just asking high-level questions. Level of participation during the seminar is incredible. I am very proud to have students who despite having economic or family barriers, come every day with a positive attitude towards learning.

My Project

Collaborative work and hands on activities are always an option in my class. During group work times students have the option to stay in their own table or choose any space in our classroom. Students performance is better when they feel ownership of their work. A rectangular table will help students to have more space to complete any task. Some of the activities that we do in our class are small group presentations, station work, hands-on projects, and for Friday's socratic seminar. In addition, this project will benefit my students in many ways! They will have easily access to math materials and an organized environment.
