My Project
At our school, we have students with diabetes who rely on continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) systems, such as the Dexcom G6 or G7, to manage their blood sugar levels. These devices are life-changing, as they provide real-time data and alerts that allow students to monitor their glucose levels throughout the day, ensuring that they stay safe and healthy while participating in classroom activities. However, to access this data, our students need to use smartphones or tablets and this can not be their own personal device. It has to be a device that can be left at school.
To help bridge this gap your support is needed to provide our students with iPads that will allow them to connect to their Dexcom monitors.
With an iPad, students can track their glucose levels, receive alerts for high or low blood sugar, and share their data with caregivers and school staff for timely intervention when needed. This technology will empower them to take charge of their health and participate fully in their education. Funding is not available to provide this to our school. Disparities in healthcare are widespread. These devices will also ensure our students can have the best care that our school can offer.
