My Students

I am living the dream teaching Fifth graders in my hometown! Serving alongside my former teachers is the coolest experience! I serve a diverse group of kids who have many different interests and unique learning styles. I'm excited to take my students on a world-wide adventure as we dive into reading and explore literacy in new and exciting ways!

Fredrick Douglas said "Once you learn to read, you will be forever free", so in giving my students the tools to read, they are being empowered to choose the lives they want to lead.

This is my hope and my mission for each generation that walks into my classroom.

My Project

These materials will create my classroom's first room transformation for my students. The black lights, highlights, glow tape, and glow sticks will create a glow-themed setting for my students to review their parts of speech and become glow "detectives" as they search for text evidence in our English Language Arts classroom.

As a teacher, I strive to provide my classroom with engaging activities that impact students both academically and socially. Pair this with rigorous content, and the students see themselves soar. Not only does student achievement improve, but student attitudes and self-confidence improve as well.

I have seen the effects that engagement creates for students and am looking forward to bringing in innovating new ideas to increase engagement.
