Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are English Language Learners and they're learning map skills for the first time! I've been using a map since our globe is broken, but they need to understand that Earth is round, and inflatable globes would help them so much with spacial concepts and cardinal directions.

My students are so incredibly sweet and very motivated to learn!

They are so curious about the world and are always asking questions. We studied the continents, and some students went home and drew gorgeous maps just for fun. The details were so precise. They did a better job than I would have done! The staff at our school really cares about the students, and I know that if there was a budget for new globes, we would have received them. Unfortunately, we've had this globe for longer than I've been teaching here, and it's just not possible to have it replaced.

My Project

My students will be so excited about these globes! They can use the globes to examine the continents and oceans. Soon, we're going to start studying countries and states. These globes are going to help us with the entire geography unit AND they'll be available for students for years to come!

My second graders are still so young and these concepts are difficult for them to understand.

I know that being able to touch and examine these globes would help my students understand that the Earth is round and that the map doesn't end with Australia!
