Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am School Counselor in a Title I elementary school in a wonderful community. Our families are trying their best despite challenges and struggles they may face. My students are resilient and street smart. Often times though, many of them could benefit from strengthening their social emotional skills. I am devoted to helping my students with their social and emotional learning as they grow into productive and successful people!

I believe our students can become global citizens who respect themselves and the people in the world around them!

The first step to this is children recognizing their own worth. We can accomplish this by using the requested calming down, meditative, mindful tools to teach kiddos to identify and understand their feelings so they may then learn empathy and have the knowledge that as humans we all experience similar emotions. By understanding this, children will be able to cooperate and work better with others which will help them academically! Learning empathy along with emotional self-regulation will help children to be successful no matter where life takes them!
