My Project

I am seeking funding for a glass mosaic project that I am planning for our high school art students. This project will offer students a unique opportunity to explore and develop their artistic and technical skills in a creative, hands-on environment.

Students will focus on the design process for their individual glass mosaics, emphasizing key elements such as color choice, texture, and shape.

They will gain experience in selecting and preparing materials, as well as learning the proper techniques for scoring and breaking glass to achieve the desired shapes and sizes. They will then learn the techniques for adhearing the glass pieces to the substrate and properly grouting it to ensure a professional and polished finish. These hands-on, technical skills will not only be applicable to the mosaic process but will also enhance their overall understanding of design principles, which can be carried forward to other creative and practical projects, giving students valuable skills and confidence in working with dynamic, non-traditional materials.

The benefits of this project go beyond just the artistic process. It will encourage problem-solving, precision, and attention to detail, all of which are important skills for academic success and future careers. Moreover, the completion of a tangible artwork will instill a sense of pride and accomplishment in each student.

To make this vision a reality, I am requesting funding to cover the cost of glass materials, tools, and other necessary supplies. Your support will enable our students to engage with this project and gain skills that will not only enhance their artistic growth but will also serve them in many other areas of their academic and professional futures.
